Rosatom and the Government of Novosibirsk Oblast will be developing electric mobility in the region

At the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Rosatom's Fuel Company TVEL and the Government of Novosibirsk Oblast signed an agreement on development of electric mobility in Novosibirsk Oblast. The document was signed by Natalya Nikipelova, President of TVEL JSC, and Andrey Travnikov, Governor of Novosibirsk Oblast.

The parties intend to cooperate under the Concept for Development of Production and Use of Electric Automobile Transport in the Russian Federation for the Period up to 2030 (approved by the Order of the Government of the Russian Federation on August 23, 2021) in Novosibirsk Oblast. A number of projects is scheduled to create electric charging hubs for “fast” charging of electric vehicles in Novosibirsk Oblast in 2024-2025, as well as to develop a retail network of electric charging stations in cooperation with regional operators.

Electric mobility projects include development of electric urban transport, including taxi, carsharing, and cargo vehicles, as well as creation of an electric charging network on federal highways.

“Development of electric transport is a national mission, implementation expected to become a natural driver for strengthening the country's technological sovereignty in automotive industry. This will have a comprehensive effect on the economy of our regions, “pulling up” a number of related industries. We are happy that Novosibirsk Oblast is taking a proactive stance on the development of electric mobility, while Rosatom, in turn, is ready to provide all its competencies in this area. Nuclear industry enterprises are capable of producing about 60% of key components for an electric car, including batteries, electric motors, composite materials, and various auxiliary car components. Moreover, Rosatom contributes to the formation of a whole new electric driving industry in the country, where the State Corporation enterprises will also build electric charging stations and supply them with electricity,” says Natalia Nikipelova.

“The signed agreement is an important step in the development of green electric transportation in the region. This work, in cooperation with our partner Rosatom's Fuel Division, is crucial for Novosibirsk, a city with a large number of motor vehicles. Popularization of electric transport, development of electric mobility will ultimately contribute to the improvement of the environmental situation in the regional capital,” emphasizes Andrei Travnikov.
